THE (L)ESTE CONCERT
The (L)ESTE concert is energy, experience, research and connection with the musical history here in the south of Latin America, an unprecedented work by accordionist Alejandro Brittes, who creates a crossover between his cradle rhythm, Chamamé, with baroque music.
The show has exquisite orchestration, between typical Chamamé instruments in dialogue with baroque instruments. The musical ensemble is composed of: Alejandro Brittes on accordion, Fernando Cordella on harpsichord, Giovani dos Santos and Márcio Cecconello on violins, Érico Marques on Oboe, Diego Schuck Biasibetti on cello and viola da gamba, Ricardo Arenhaldt on percussion, André Ely on seven-string guitar and Carlos de Césaro on double bass.
The show lasts 60 minutes, is composed of eleven songs, most of them original by Brittes that tell the history of Chamamé.
Making Off - (L)ESTE Concert
The making off of the (L)ESTE concert shows the energy and connection with South American musical history.

BOOK: THE ORIGIN OF CHAMAMÉ
Alejandro has been researching Chamamé for about 20 years, in fact, we have always asked numerous questions about the rhythm and these have recently been compiled into a book. Alejandro shares the book with Magali de Rossi, who is a historian and cultural producer; together, one with the experience of having lived and shared conversations and good laughs with names of the old Chamamecera guard and the other having the scientific basis to develop the object in a theoretical way.
Both propose a challenge to readers to think of borders as merely geopolitical lines, mutable spaces in the cultural sphere. To think of music as the result of a long process, fulfilling a peculiar function in the Social Imaginary and Collective Memory. The book points out ways to unravel a little of Chamamé and its ritual.
For the writers, music, dance, rituals, cosmogony nourish themselves, dialogue and respond to gaps, even if imperceptibly to our eyes, all these cultural expressions and human behaviors give the people their identity, fulfill a metaphysical function and make us go beyond what is presented to us as science. Perhaps that is why Chamamé is one of the few musical rhythms that brings with it the strange fervor of questioning: Where did all this come from? Why are we like this? What stories does this rhythm have to tell us?
ACCORDION COURSE/BOOK
González System/Argentine System
The concern of having material about the González accordion system has accompanied me for over thirty years as an accordionist and adept of the system. I remember when I started studying the technique with master Nini Flores before his departure for France and how much I missed having a "manual" on how to move forward with my instrument.
Despite having studied with the greatest icon of this model, numerous challenges have accompanied and continue to accompany my journey as an instrumentalist. All these challenges occurred because the González system is young, of oral transmission, and does not have a bibliography to guide the study of this mechanism.
Due to these factors, I developed a course and a book with the full intention of collaborating and helping to facilitate the understanding of the logic and fingering of the same. The material created is aimed at beginner and experienced accordionists in the System in Ré/Sol and Sol/Dó tunings.
